Pastor
Tonya D. Williams, a native of Washington, D.C., attended Elizabeth
Seton High
School in Bladensburg,
MD. Upon graduation, she enrolled
at the Catholic University of America where she graduated Magna cum Laude and
Phi Beta Kappa, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in
1995.
Pastor
Tonya received her call into ministry during her undergraduate studies and was
licensed to the gospel ministry in December of 1993 at the Isle of Patmos
Baptist Church in Washington,
D.C. where she also served as a
Sunday School teacher and President of the Youth Ministry.
Pastor
Tonya received her Masters of Divinity degree in Religious Education and
Pastoral Ministry from Vanderbilt University School of Divinity in 1998, where
she was named the Kelly Miller Smith Scholar. While studying at Vanderbilt, she
served as an associate minister at Mount
Zion Baptist
Church in Nashville, TN,
and was later ordained and appointed the Minister of Christian Education.
Pastor
Tonya served as the Senior Pastor of Spirit of Liberty Church in Alexandria, VA
from 1998-2002, and worked as an elementary school educator in both private and
public schools from 1998 until June 2007. Pastor Tonya served as an assistant
pastor of Crossover Church in Hyattsville, MD for 13 years under the leadership
of Lead Pastor Timothy L. Seay, and as an associate pastor at The New Macedonia
Baptist Church in Washington, DC under Pastor Patrick J. Walker for 5 years.
Pastor
Tonya currently serves as an associate pastor at The Triumphant Church in
Hyattsville, MD under the leadership of Pastor Perrin Rogers. She is also
the Owner & Principal of Edified Christian Preparatory Academy located in
Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
She
is married to Minister Kevin Williams, and they have three sons, Kevin Elijah,
Ethan Nathaniel, and Zachary Emmanuel.
Pastor
Tonya acknowledges that God has given and blessed her with His very best; and
she sees life and ministry as an opportunity to give God’s very best back to
Him.
